Targets will form an important part of your Eploy dashboards and reporting; from a management point of view, targets allow you to measure the performance of a team, group or individual, whilst a consultant will have the ability to track their own progress in terms of hitting KPIs and achieving targets.

By creating and assigning target templates, you can build the target profiles that your team require, whilst maintaining the flexibility to alter target values, set reporting periods and build a layered target history. Using our templates, you will be able to customise your targeting to fit the needs of your users, your business and your KPIs.

Note: You do not need to build a target template. You can apply targets to user records individually. However, we would recommend using templates as this will save significant administration time. If you prefer not to build a template first, proceed to the section Assigning Targets to each User. As the targets are based on Metrics, ensure that the metrics is configured correctly, before assigning targets.

Building the Target Templates

The target template will allow you to build your target profiles in principal, based on the role of the consultant. For example, you may wish to build a template for all New Sales Team Members, a template for Junior Sales and a template for Senior Sales. This template would then be applied to the necessary users, meaning that the target profile does not have to be created and repeated for each individual. Once applied to the user, the targets from the template can be edited, added to and removed, giving you complete flexibility over each user’s KPIs.

To begin editing and creating target templates, select Target Templates from Reports on the Eploymenu. Access to this module is restricted by the general permissions assigned to each user. If you are unable to access this section, please contact an Admin User.

This will lead to the target template global list. Here;

  • Click into any existing target templates to edit and make amendments.
  • Select New from the Eploy tool bar to create a new target template.

Once within the target template, the first requirements are the Title and the Description;

  • The Title is the name of template and will display within the target reporting period (which is set when applying the template to a User).
  • The Description is to help identify the target template and provide further information regarding who this template is deisgned for and how long it should be applied to each user.

Once these fields are set, click Save to confirm and create the template.

After the template has been saved, a new section will appear; User Targets. In this section, use the Add option to add individual targets to this template. Clicking Add will trigger a pop up window, where the target can be configured;

  • Record Type – This will match the record type selected within the Metric, which the targets are based upon.
  • Metric – Once the record type has been selected, the metrics relating to that type will be displayed. After selecting the required metric, the metric summary & description will be available below, to ensure that the correct metric has been selected.
  • Target Value – This is the numeric measure of the target – how much the user will need to achieve.
  • Target Interval – This is the date range involved in the target, determining the time scale which the target is based.

Once the target has been configured, select save to confirm and add the target to the template. Repeat the process untill the template is complete and populated with all the required generic targets.

Note: You can always edit a target that has been added to the template by clicking into the metric title, which will return you to the saved configuration popup window. Remove a target from the template using the X.

Finalise the template by clicking Save and return to the Target Template global list. The new template will then be displayed within along side any other existing templates. If you need to edit the template after creation, you can click back into the title of the template.

Assigning Targets to each User

To begin assigning targets and templates to Users, you need to select User Reporting & Targets from Reports on the Eploymenu. Access to this module is restricted by the general permissions assigned to each user. If you are unable to access this section, please contact an Admin User.

This will then lead to the Reporting Admin Profiles, which lists each user record and the targets that have been already assigned. By clicking into a user record, you can begin to assign targets and apply templates which create the Target Period.

Adding Target Period

Click Add Target Period to launch a pop up configuration wizard. This is where you configure the length of time that the targets will apply to this user;

  • Copy from Template – Use this drop down list to load a previously created template. Loading a template will auto populate the fields Title and Description, whilst also displaying the targets assigned to the template.
  • Title – This will be the name of the target period and will show within the User Record.
  • Description – This allows you to provide further details about the reporting period, such as what it is measuring and why it has been applied for the set time period.
  • Targets – This section only appears when loading a template, which has pre-assigned targets.
  • Start Date – This is when the targets are applied from and can be back dated. Doing so will allow you to report on past performance against the target value set.
  • End Date – This is not a mandatory field and can be left blank for an ongoing reporting period.

Note: Reporting Periods cannot overlap, so adding a new Reporting Period will auto populate the End Date of the previous period.

Once the reporting period has been configured, click Save to apply it to the User. From there, targets can be added to that period by selecting Add Target. If you have loaded a Target Template, the targets will also be displayed within the Target Period.

When Adding Targets, another configuration window will appear, prompting;

Click Save to then add this target to the User & the Target Period.

Note: If the target is duplicated (the same metric and target interval selected), then an error message will block the attempt to add the target.

Editing Targets & Target Periods

Once the target periods have been added and fully populated with targets, then you are ready to begin reporting and building target widgets into your dashboards. However, if the targets need to be edited or the periods adjusted, you can do so by clicking into the title of the period or the metric title – doing so will launch the same configuration wizard as on creation and allow you to edit all of the original fields.

Targets can be removed from the Target Period by using the X, whilst entire target periods can be deleted by clicking into the period and using the new delete option.

Note: If a target period or individual target is deleted, they cannot be recovered; they will need to be manually recreated.
